Dear friend cyclist, hello! I do not speak English very well, but I'll try... My name is Yves Cruzel. I am 62 years old. I live in Laruscade. It is a small village located forty-five miles from Bordeaux. I was a teacher but now I am retired... And I became a gentleman farmer and a keen cyclist !... I practice cycling for thirty-eight years and I write my blog since 2009.
Last year I started the Tour de France cycling... For this, I use a light bike and a single wheel trailer. I left my home in Gironde, June 10, 2010. I drove along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, then I crossed the Pyrenees and I got to Foix... It was a journey of a thousand miles. I went through 23 passes! I've done this ride in 10 days. But I stopped four days to rest.
During the summer of 2011, I'll start from Foix, and I will close the crossing of the Pyrenees... Then I will ride along the Mediterranean coast to get to Grasse... Then I will cross the Alps, the Jura and the Vosges Mountains to arrive in Strasbourg.

This represents a journey of two thousand kilometers and 50 passes to cross!... I will make it in 20 steps and 4 or 5 days off. In Alsace I have family. I'll leave my trailer there and I'll return by train in the Gironde. But I'll take my bike...
In 2012, I will leave Strasbourg and I headed towards Dunkirk. Then I will ride along the Channel coast, Normandy and Brittany to Finisterre... Finally, I went to the Vendée and Charentes and I return home, in the Gironde. This will be a journey of two thousand kilometers and more... And 4 passes to climb ! My Tour de France will have five thousand kilometers in all... I hope to continue doing the Tour of Corsica, the Tour of Martinique, Tour of Guadeloupe , Tour of Guyana, Tour of Reunion...
My trailer weighs 7.8 kilograms. I carry 13 kilograms of baggage. They are cycling clothes, street clothes, a toiletry kit, an emergency kit, a repair kit... And various accessories like a camera or a digital recorder.
My bike has special equipment. An odometer, a thermometer, a bell, a slope indicator... I fixed a simplified path to the frame. My mirror is very helpful because I can watch the road behind me without turning my head... I also use a device to measure my heart rate.
The wheels and seats are equipped with immobilizer. The front and rear lamps operate without a battery. They light on automatically when I ride. The tires are size 25. My trailer is equipped with a crutch. This was done by a bike shop. Thus, I can stop or park my VelRem easily. Thus I call on my bike and trailer (Vélo/Remorque). In English, we might say "BikeTrail", is not it ?
At noon, I take my meals at the restaurant. And at night I sleep at the hotel, half board. Sometimes I am greeted by the people I contacted. I sleep at home. I have friends everywhere!
You can visit my blog. Even if you don't understand, you can enjoy the pictures and listen to the broadcasts of Radio Cycling. These are recordings that I make while driving. On my return, I put them on my blog. You can also send me a message... I would be happy to receive it! And if you spend holidays in the "Sud-Ouest" of France (west south), you can stop at Broustier. You will be warmly welcomed.... Goodbye !
